Austin, TX – November 15, 2007 – Verde Energy, a trusted source for competitive bids from the nation's largest network of experienced renewable energy professionals, today announced a nationwide higher education initiative focused on helping colleges and universities successfully integrate renewable energy on campus.  The initiative is designed to assist colleges and universities with the integration of renewable energy systems into new and existing buildings, and to offer creative ideas on how to feature these systems in student life.

“Renewable energy systems on college campuses empower the future leaders of our communities with first-hand experience and a strong appreciation for the real-world impact of sustainable energy technologies,” says Rob Powell, chief executive for Verde Energy.  “The higher education initiative that we’ve announced today provides institutions with an experienced partner to help them identify their most cost-effective options, and successfully integrate green energy systems into their sustainability plans, campus buildings, curriculum and student life.”

Verde Energy provides college and university business officers, facilities managers, and other key decision makers with free project consultations designed to assess the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of renewable energy integration on campus, and to offer specific ideas, tools and case studies on successful projects at other institutions.

“As part of this initiative, we’re asking students to get involved and take up the cause for their school by offering proposals to their administration on how to utilize renewable energy on campus,” says Powell.  “We’re also inviting students to share their ideas and proposals on our renewable energy blog, or by sending them in.”
