Energy Suppliers
Renewable energy is produced from sources such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric. For every MWh produced, one renewable energy certificate, or REC, is generated. Suppliers, like Verde Energy, can use these RECs to support renewable energy products offered to consumers.
The Grid
Once that renewable energy hits the grid, it mixes with energy from every other source. Wind, solar , and hydroelectric energy combines with energy from non-renewable sources to power all homes and businesses that utilize the grid. Energy enters the grid from all sources like drops of water all going into the same glass.
Consumers
Since the energy going into homes from the grid cannot be distinguished as renewable, Verde Energy purchases RECs from renewable energy producers to offset energy used by our customers. This allows our customers to directly support renewable energy sources.
